Andy Cafiero Obituary, Branford, CT Death – West Haven Youth Hockey Mourns Legendary Coach

The West Haven Youth Hockey community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of former coach Andy Cafiero, a beloved figure who spent nearly 40 years as part of the program and made a lasting impact on generations of young players.

Coach Andy was remembered as a legend within West Haven Youth Hockey. Over the course of almost four decades, he coached countless players, leaving an impression on the young athletes who had the opportunity to learn from him. His dedication to the game and to the players he coached created a legacy that will continue to be remembered by former players across generations.

News of his passing has brought deep sadness to the hockey community, where many are reflecting on the years he devoted to the program. West Haven Youth Hockey said Coach Andy made an impact on every player he coached and will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

As family, friends, former players and members of the hockey community grieve, thoughts are especially with his wife, Gloria, and the rest of his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Visitation for Coach Andy Cafiero will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford, Connecticut.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, St. Vincent DePaul Church, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven, Connecticut. The funeral cortege will depart B.C. Bailey Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. for the service.

Coach Andy’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, but his influence will live on through the generations of players and families whose lives were touched by his nearly 40 years of dedication to West Haven Youth Hockey. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
